Cinderella Wedding Reception Food Ideas
Your wedding menu can be composed of what we call as princess dishes, which are basically fare that reminds us of popular princesses - dishes with apple (Snow White) and peas (The Princess and the Pea), spaghetti or any long strand pastas (this remind us of Rapunzel's hair!), and an assortment of seafood dishes(Little Mermaid) are just a few examples.
But if you like princesses but not in your food, serving veal, mutton, or other popular game meats like turkey, deer, duck, rabbits, etc can be another approach to your menu. You can turn them into meat kabobs, an appetizer or two, a gourmet sandwich or an entree. You might also want to add some specialty food like sweetbreads, foie gras, and caviar, since those are definitely fit for royalty.
Time to bring out your silverware and glassware, since there's something quite majestic about them, elements that are MUST Haves on any Cinderella wedding. If you have a chalice or something similar, now's a good time to bring them out and put them into good use.
For your wedding cake, a castle-shaped cake, a cake which comes in the shape of Cinderella's pumpkin carriage, or a glorious pink cake will be perfect. You can also just get an ordinary wedding cake and just place Cinderella and her prince or a pumpkin coach cake topper to turn it into its perfect theme-based counterpart.
Your royal guests definitely deserve a glass or two of fine wine so be sure to serve some. Serving pumpkin drinks or pink punch is also a good idea since pumpkin and pink drinks are definitely welcome on any Cinderella or princess wedding food repertoire.
Fall Wedding Reception Food Ideas
With lots of fruits and veggies thriving or being harvested during autumn, lack of food choices is not going to be a problem if you’re going for this particular wedding theme.
Serving dishes that includes pumpkin, corn, broccoli, cabbage, cauliflower, green beans, eggplant and other fall veggies as one of the major ingredients are very welcome on any fall wedding. So are cranberries, grapes, or apples for your dessert.
Another approach on your wedding food is to serve dishes that are popularly served during thanksgiving. This means roast turkey, mashed potatoes, green bean salad, corn on cob, apple pie, pumpkin pie and the like are also part of your menu candidates.
There’s really no rule that says you need to pick one approach over the other, so if you think a combination of both will please your and your guests’ palate better, then you must go for it.
For your wedding cake, a cake designed with fruits or flowers in mind will be perfect. If you want a plain cake, then something that comes in one or a combination of the fall colors is something you can consider.
You have tons of options on what drink to serve your guests, since anything from pumpkin to apple juice can be part of your repertoire. But since this is a wedding party, serving some good wine is appropriate and very theme-based (grapes are harvested during fall), and so are fruit cocktails featuring one of the season’s fruits. That should take care of guests who prefer to give you a toast with something with more zing than your plain old pumpkin juice.
Fishing Wedding Reception Food Ideas
As a general rule, a Gone Fishing theme demands a repertoire of freshness, from your main course to dessert.
Serving trout and other of your favorite catches will be expected when you’re going for this particular wedding theme. But if you want to include other seafood superstars like crab and shrimps, that will also be fine. And lastly, having a gone fishing theme should not stop you from serving meat dishes, since it’s greatly possible that some of your guests might not love fish as much as you and your groom do.
For your wedding cake, a cake with underwater design will be cool. You can also go for a cake with some blue accents since that will also be fine. But feel free to get an ordinary wedding cake, as long as you properly adorn it with a fishing-based cake topper. That should turn your ordinary cake into its perfect theme-based counterpart.
Simply-cooked trout dishes are perfect with white wine so make sure you serve the best wine that will taste good with your fish and other seafood dishes. Just keep in mind the general rule when choosing wines, the wine should not overpower your food and vice versa. If you want to serve beverages of the non-alcoholic variety, serving some fresh fruit shake should do the trick.
Green Wedding Reception Food Ideas
Natural, fresh and organic. Those are the qualities of the food you must serve if you’re going for a green wedding.
Since many stores are carrying organic products and there are lots of organic catering services, going for an eco-friendly wedding is not synonymous to unsatisfying fare. And if you happen to be a meat lover who can only tolerate a wee bit of salad, no worries since going for a green wedding won’t just limit you to “rabbit food”, since your choice of lamb, chicken, beef and fish entrees are still fitting to your wedding theme.
Make sure you serve your dishes on reusable or biodegradable plates. You can either go for printed plates or just go for more solid designs. Just ensure that your plates do not clash with your other table decoration.
A white cake with green accents is what you want for your Go Green wedding. It can come in plain design or with flowery ones. A round one is more traditional, but there are lots of modern cake designs nowadays and many are just a few google away.
You can go for traditional wines served in weddings. But we think adding some fruit wine (other than grapes) like fermented apple or pineapple are definitely worth looking at.
Mexican Wedding Reception Food Ideas
The good thing about having a Mexican wedding is that your wedding food is the least of your problems. Mexican food usually means rice, beans, tortilla, salsa, chicken and beef. This can mean burritos, tacos, chili con carne, stuffed chilis, but other popular Mexican dishes like lengua (beef tongue) are also very welcome.
Serving dishes wherein avocados play a great role will also work well with your chosen theme and thus are worth adding.
Be sure to include churros and some thick chocolate to satisfy your guests' sweet tooth, since this is a common fare included in any Mexican party repertoire. But if you want to go beyond these, we found this Mexican Fiesta Menu that you might want to look at.
A Mexican wedding cake means rum-soaked fruitcake with pineapple and pecans. Feel free to decorate your cake according to your chosen motif and adding some cake topper (using popular Mexican elements) in the picture.
You can serve some avocado shake or lime punch, but be sure to serve some sangria, margarita and tequila for the rest of your guests who prefer more zing on their drinks when they finally drink to your and your new hubby’s happiness.
