We think that games which can bring other couples together, one that can help your guests meet new friends, or any activities that has something to do with you and your groom, are perfect candidates for your wedding games. Here are some of our game ideas for this theme:
Men and Sombreros
It is time to call out some single male and female guests who you think are up to a game.
This game will play like Musical Chairs, but of course with the right wedding and Mexican twist.
The male players will be the “chairs” and should be one less than the available ladies. As with the original game, while the music is playing, the girls will be circling around the “chairs”. Each of these ladies will have one sombrero each. When the music stops she must put her sombrero on the man nearest her. The lady who failed to do so is out of the game, the music resumes and the game starts all over again.
This game will play until you’re down to your final couple.
Mexican Stop Dance
You can either call out some couples from your guests or just pick some single ladies and gentleman from the crowd to play this game.
This is all about dancing to your chosen Mexican music (Jarabe Tapatío is a good candidate) while the music is playing, stopping any movement while the music is out and dancing again once the music resumes.
The game will play out until you have your best couple in stopping and dancing.
Wedding Piñata
Piñata is a game that originated in Mexico and thus, is worth playing on any Mexican party, including Mexican weddings. You can choose to make your own piñata but if you decided not to, that should also be fine since there are lots of wedding-themed piñata and they’re just a few google away.
This is popularly played by kids but we don’t see any reason if you want to give your grownup guests a shot in breaking your wedding piñata.
Mexican Entertainments
Hiring professionals to perform on weddings is becoming more popular nowadays and if you are of the same mind, then you will find these ideas useful.
It is quite traditional to have a Mariachi group play on Mexican weddings so if you’re opting for a traditional Mexican wedding, then getting a Mariachi group to serenade you and your guests on your big day should be seriously considered.
You can also hire a group of traditional Mexican dancers for additional entertainments. However, if you opt not to do so, no worries, since other form of entertainments can be prepared to replace such performances.
If you are having a destination wedding, be sure to check your chosen resort if they have such services since dealing with them instead of a 3rd party event planner will make your wedding preparations a lot simpler. |
